Beginners Group

Quakers Running Club is a friendly, community based running club in Darlington, made up of runners of all abilities. We all started somewhere, so we appreciate that taking your first steps in running is not necessarily easy.

With this in mind, we are pleased to offer a 10 week course for absolute beginners, or for those who haven’t ran for some time and wish to take it up again. Over 10 weeks, we will help you to run 5K (just over 3 miles in old money!) continuously.

You’ll start with a mixture of walking and running at first, but with the help of our friendly and supportive coaches you’ll gradually increase the amount of running you are doing.

At the end of Week 10, we’ll have a crack at a local parkrun together!

Start Date: The next Beginners Group will start at 6.30pm on Tuesday, 24th April 2018, and the course is made up of two club sessions per week (6.30pm on Tuesday and Thursday evenings), with a third session to be undertaken in your own time. Our last course proved extremely popular, and in order to ensure that those who sign up receive the same high quality level of coaching we have limited the size of the group.

Venue: We meet at Abbey Road Sports Field and will initially be using the Sports Field, and the streets and locally parks around the area, however, as the group progresses, we will move further afield.

Cost: £10 for a 10 week course, however you will be offered the opportunity following the course to become Club Members, and your initial £10 will then be deducted from your membership fee. You can pay the course fee on-line, or by cash / cheque.

Not new to running, but want to run with others? Quakers Running Club meet every at 6.30pm every Tuesday and Thursday evening at Abbey Road Sports Field, and provide a main structured training session, alongside a number of steady run groups. Come along one night to find out more!
