Most Quakers headed north for one of the region’s most famous races at the weekend, with many in search of championship points.

The biggest turnout of the weekend was up at Newcastle for the Blaydon Race, over a slightly shorter than normal 5.4 mile route along the Scottswood Road. First home for the club was Paul Dalton in 30:51 followed by Marc Ellis (30:56), Louise Trainor (37:11), Adrian Colbourne (37:26), Gareth Kyle (37:27), Diane Vaughan (38:11), Brian Mclaren (38:24), Rob Gillham (39:43), Andrew Dixon (41:11), Mike Watson (42:16), Julie Russell (42:26), Andrew Walker (42:31), Juliette Mclaren (46:22), David Ledgerwood (47:37), Hannah Alderson (48:37), Richard Hughes (49:40), Neal Harper (50:30), Pamela Barrass (51:06), Lena Rusa (54:33), Paul Ryan (54:35), Charlotte Kyle (55:54), Nichola Jordan (56:47), Naomi Dixon (1:08:18) and Wendy Thompson (1:08:55).

Taking place over at Marske was the Everyone Active 10K, on a route along the coast road. Michael Joyeux finished the race in second place overall in 33:50 followed by Dave Jones (39:47), Peter Rowley (52:02), Caroline Litster (52:32), Darren Alderson (55:25), Helen Clarke (57:42), Lisa Alderson (58:45), Lisa Reeve (59:12), Tina Corah (1:01:57), Sally Singleton (1:02:50), Michelle Scruby (1:03:12), Kelly Smith (1:03:38) and Laura Girard (1:11:51).

The latest of the Hardmoors Trail series was held, this time around the White Horse. In the marathon distance Rachel McMahon finished in 7:09:44, Luke Minall ran the half marathon in 2:35:10, while in the 10K, Phil Rutter and Gill Colling completed the route in 1:04:27 and 1:29:22 respectively.

Paul Dalton was the sole Quaker at his namesake race at Dalton Park, finishing the flat 5 mile distance in fourth place overall in 29:10.

The second North East Masters track meet took place up at Monkton at the start of the week. In the 100m and 200m Paul Roberts clocked 14.6s and 30.3s respectively, while Ian Bond set a pair of club records, landing 4.21m in the long jump and 9.26m in the triple jump.

Up at Druridge Bay, Lisa Jenkins and Sally Watson took part in the latest Saturn Running event. On an trail route which also took in a section of the beach, the pair each completed two laps of the course, to both run 13.1 miles in total; Lisa in 2:37:28 and Sally in 3:16:35.

In the Saturday morning parkruns, David Matthew finished at South Park in 19:36 followed by Andrew Vernon (19:58), Rob Gillham (23:45), Gary Read (24:17), Peter Rowley (25:40), David Aiken (27:18), Danny Gordon (27:24), Ashleigh Atkinson (27:39), Martin Mcgregor (28:13), Lisa Bowerbank (28:36), Chris Land (28:39), Jo Meynell (29:04), John Mcgrath (29:23), Mark Trowles (30:36), Charlie Johnson (32:12), Rebecca Howard (32:28), Rachel Grayson (34:23), Sarah Watson (34:32), Rachel Maddison (35:11), Paul Ryan (35:11), Laura Girard (36:40), Olly Marshall-Moore (42:23), Gemma Marshall-Moore (42:24) and Linda Gossage (57:39).

At Sedgefield, Dave Thompson finished in 23:53 along with Jeff Marriott (27:49), Anneli Mackenzie Brown (28:34) and Richard Payne (31:59), Paul Dalton did the Flatts Lane run in 20:18, Rebecca Dodd    completed the Gibside run in 29:56 and Stephen moore ran at Albert Park in 30:39. At Tees Barrage, Dawn Richardson finished in 20:27 along with Gareth Kyle in 20:41, at Catterick, Ian Hart and Mike Watson ran there in 23:06 and 26:08 respectively, while at Druridge Bay, David Ledgerwood did the run there in 27:22 along with Sally Watson in 36:33. Further afield, Helen Whiting did the Belton House run in 33:14, Stuart Hardcastle ran at Wepre in 24:45, David Stewart finished at Bushy in 29:41 and Leigh Hindle completed the Livingston run in 40:21.
