Club Championship Update

Sunday 12th May – Raby Castle 10K

19 Quakers took on the two lap course which was mainly on tarmac, however still undulating around the beautiful Raby Castle Estate. Brian Martin gained the full 50 points with an age adjusted time of 32:14, Dave Jones gained the 49 points with an age adjusted time of 37:09 and Michael Thompson gained the 48 points in an age adjusted time of 48:40. Well done to everyone that took part.

Sunday 19th May – Pier to Pier 10K

It was a beautiful day for one of the most scenic runs in the Championship calendar, the race took place along the coastline from South Shields to Sunderland following the coastal paths. There was a good turn out of Quakers taking part, 15 in total. Marc Ellis had an age adjusted time of 39:11 gaining the full 50 points, Louise Trainor gained 49 points in an age adjusted time of 44:48 and Phil Rutter gained the 48 points in an age adjusted time of 45:36. Well done to all Quakers.

Sunday 26th May – Northallerton 10K

Northallerton 10km is a loop that takes you from an electric, atmospheric start on Northallerton high street, out of the town into some of the most stunning country road views in North Yorkshire. It was a nice warm day where 10 Quakers took part in the 10K Race. Julie Whinn gained 50 points with an age adjusted time of 42:13, Karen Garfield gained 49 points with an age adjusted time of 45:38 and Robert Kirby gained the 48 points with an age adjusted time of 47:31.

109 Quakers have taken part in the championship over the last 5 months. Well done everyone!

Championship races in June

9th June – Blaydon Race 5.6 mile

The Blaydon Race is a 5.6 mile athletics race from Newcastle upon Tyne to Blaydon, in England, that is steeped in local tradition. It takes place on June 9th every year starting on Collingwood Street in Newcastle, heading west along Scotswood Road and finishing in Blaydon. This race is full

19th June – Whorlton Run 10K – Fell

This is a long established summer fete race, which has been adjusted with the agreement of the parish council to make it a little more challenging. On the day entry only

30th June – Ali Brownlee – 5K

A flat fast 5k road race starting outside Middlesbrough FC’s Riverside Stadium and finishing inside the stadium.  Entry still open
