Club Championship Update

27th April 2019 – Hamsterly Forest 10k

9 Quakers took to the hills and tough terrain of Hamsterly Forrest 10k where there were plenty of up hills and less down hills, along with the woodland paths and beautiful forest trails, Quakers were rewarded with magnificent views across the forest and North Pennine Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Brian Martin gained the full 50 points on the undulating course with an age adjusted time of 33:49, Paul Dalton took the 49 points with an age adjusted time of 37:12 and Rob Gillham gained 48 points with an age adjusted time of 43:15.

Great times achieved on a tough undulating race. Well done to all that took part.

28th April 2019 – Washington Trail 10K

5 Black and White vests ventured up to Washington to take part in the undulating course which picks its way around some beautiful woodland trails along the banks of the river Wears. Andrew Dixon gained the full 50 points with an age adjusted time of 58:03, Helen Spaven gained 49 points with an age adjusted time of 71:20 and Karen Dove gained 48 points in an age adjusted time of 71:35.

Well done to all Quakers who took part in this race.

Wednesday 8th April – Locke Park Pie and Peas 5 Mile

It was a wet and cold night in Locke Park but it didn’t stop 7 Quakers taking part in the latest championship race to gain their Pie and Peas at the finish. The multi lap, flat course is 5 laps of the beautiful Locke Park, taking in views of the lake. Rob Dent gained the 50 points with an age adjusted time of 30:39, 49 points were awarded to Neil Gooding whose age adjusted time was 31:03 and Rob Gillham was awarded 48 points with an age adjusted time of 32:32.

Championship races in May

There are plenty of points still to be achieved in May with the next race in the championship calendar just up the road at Raby Castle on Sunday 12th May, this 10k race is an undulating 2 lap course mainly on tarmac! There are entries still available as well as on the day entry if NOT full! Race entry is available on www.racebest.com

The next race in the championship is the 7mile Pier to Pier on Sunday 19th May. The race starts at South Shields Pier and follows a scenic route to finish at Roker Pier in Sunderland! Places are still available on www.letsdothis.com

There is also the Northallerton 10K on Sunday 26th May. This race is full, however there is a waiting list you can register on at www.bookitzone.com
