10 February 2019 – Marsden 5k Trail
There was only one Black and White vest at the 1st Championship race, which was the tough, undulating Marsden 5k Trail at Marsden Old Quarry, in the form of Marc Ellis. Marc admired the beautiful scenery of the coastline and Northumberland while managing to come home in 6th place overall, he also manged to bag himself the full 50 points, coming in to finish in an age adjusted time of 20:04! Well done Marc.
10 February 2019 – Absent Friends 5 mile Trail
The second race of the championship calendar was the Absent Friends Trail race held just down the road at Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park. The race which is held on a mixed terrain attracted 6 hardy runners on a bright but chilly day. David Thompson pipped Billy Harris at the post on an age adjusted time of 28:23 gaining himself an impressive 50 points, Billy Harris was close on his tail coming in on an age adjusted time of 29.01 gaining 49 points. Next to climb the last hill to come into the home finish was Brian McLaren with an age adjusted time of 34:15 gaining 48 points. Rob Gillham was the next Quaker home, finishing with an age adjusted time of 35:02 resulting in 47 points. 46 points were awarded to Juliette McLaren whose adjusted time was 42:50 and Leigh Hindle gained 45 points in an age adjusted time of 58:36. Well done to all Quakers who ran!
