Another fairly quiet week on the calendar saw most Quakers heading down to West Yorkshire for the day.
Several runners took part in the Dewsbury 10K, held on an out and back course from the town, which enabled quite a few to set new personal bests. First home for the club was Michael Joyeux in 33:02 followed by Paul Dalton (35:30), Brian Martin (37:35 and first in his age category), Michael Kipling (37:47, PB), Corey Horn (40:09, PB), Billy Harris (40:25, PB), Steven Major (41:55), Chris Minto (42:50), Adrian Colbourne (43:56), Louise Trainor (44:09), Diane Vaughan (44:47 and third in her age category), Brian Mclaren (45:29), Graham Park (45:43), Paul Pomfret (45:55), David Whittle (47:32), Rob Gillham (47:51), David Todd (48:33), Julie Russell (50:10), Sandra Martin (51:12, PB), Juliette Mclaren (51:24), Richard Hughes (51:44), Darren Alderson (53:46), Emma Colbourne (54:21), Pamela Barrass (55:50), Emma Joyeux (56:08), Kathryn Plant (56:19, PB), Caroline Litster (56:41), Melissa Hird (57:49), Lisa Alderson (58:07), Michelle Scruby (58:18), Kelly Smith (58:35), Lena Rusa (58:57), Tracey Plaskitt (1:00:43), Bex Stirland (1:02:36), Naomi Dixon (1:08:22) and Leigh Hindle (1:15:22).
Four runners were out the previous day at Pateley Bridge in the Yorkshire Dales over a variety of distances. In the marathon event, Emily Beaumont completed the 26.2 miles in 5:19:31; in the 15 mile event Helen Clark and Michelle Boshier finished in 2:59:35 and 3:08:29 respectively, while Harriet Keighley did the 10 mile distance in 2:00:55.
Michael Thompson was the sole Quaker at this year’s North East Masters Cross Country event, held at the Rising Sun Park at Wallsend, completing the 5.2 mile route, over three laps, in 46:24.
The snowy weather caused the cancellation of most parkruns in the region. Of those that still went ahead, Stephen Moore finished at Albert Park in 25:21 and Peter Rowley did the Stewart Park run in 26:38. Further afield, David Ledgerwood completed the Glasgow Springburn run in 28:32, while overseas, Tom and Claire Chapman did the Bois de Boulogne run in Paris, France in 21:04 and 25:29 respectively.
