With little on the calendar at the weekend, most runners headed just down the road for the latest cross country race.
The fifth race of the season took place in the flat and fairly mud-free grounds, of Ormesby Hall at Middlesbrough. In the women’s race, which included the over 65 men, and covered 5.3K over two laps, Louise Trainor finished in 23:24 along with Claire Chapman (27:26), Sandra Martin (28:19), Bev Snook (28:33), Hannah Alderson (28:39), Danny Gordon (29:25), Janette Croft (30:06), Lisa Reeve (32:05), Lisa Jenkins (32:06), Tracey Plaskitt (32:18), Alison Hardwick (35:34), Rachel Grayson (35:39), Leigh Hindle (41:44) and Sharon Carr (41:45). In the men’s event, which covered 9.6K over three laps, Dave Jones came home in 37:41 followed by Brian Martin (38:11 and first in his age category), Mike Kipling (38:23), Rob Dent (38:28), Billy Harris (41:01), Tom Chapman (46:17), Graham Park (46:21), David Whittle (47:33), Iain Clyde (48:50) and Viv Hardwick (48:58).
Over in Cumbria, Diane Lockhart was the sole Quaker out at the Carlisle 10K, completing the fairly flat countryside route from the racecourse and back, in 1:03:35.
One runner in much warmer climes was Dave Thompson who headed to Madeira for the marathon event being held there. On a multi-lap route around the Portuguese island, he completed the 26.2 miles in 3:47:28 and second in his age category.
In the Saturday morning parkruns, Mike Kipling finished at South Park in 18:53 followed by David Matthew (20:03), Paul Dalton (20:37), Rebecca Howard (21:22), Andrew Dixon (21:41), Phil Rutter (22:11), Ed Griffiths (22:19), Stuart Hardcastle (22:25), David Whittle (22:48), Rob Gillham (24:31), Dave Jones (24:53), Gary Read (25:12), Julie Russell (26:51), Steve Howell (26:51), Elizabeth Kennedy (27:28), Nikki Thompson (27:33), Brian Dixon (27:47), Gill Colling (27:58), Gavin Armstrong (28:10), Ian Hart (28:58), Mark Blewitt (29:00), David Ledgerwood (29:22), Mark Trowles (29:24), Chris Land (29:32), Kathryn Plant (30:30), Ginny Gannaway (31:12), Charlie Johnson (33:01), Phill Johnston (33:22), Mark Johnston (33:24), Dawn Johnston (36:52), Rachel Maddison (38:10), Linda Gossage (44:38) and Wendy Thompson (52:37).
At Sedgefield, Corey Horn finished in 20:45 along with Emma Colbourne (27:16), Adrian Colbourne (27:16), Hannah Alderson (27:20), Jamie Pratt (28:09), April Corbett (28:31), Anthony Corbett (28:31), Gill Wallis (34:54), Sally Watson (43:43) and Andy Walker (44:18). At Albert Park, Jacqueline Garbutt and Judith Russell ran there in 34:37 and 42:24 respectively, Adrian Cottam did the Catterick run in 19:26, Rebecca Dodd finished at Tees Barrage in 29:32, Michael Thompson did the Hackworth run in 27:15, while at Northallerton, Stuart Masterman and Julie Bell finished there in 26:26 and 30:03 respectively. Further afield, Peter Rowley ran at Penrith in 25:25, Lucia Minto completed the Glasgow Pollok run in 30:58, while in London, Michelle Scruby did the Clapham Common run in 29:59, while David Stewart ran at Bushy Park in 35:12.
