Quakers help out at the Race for Life

Quakers members once again helped out at this year’s Race for Life held in South Park which raised funds for Cancer Research UK.

Almost sixty members gave up their time to volunteer at this year’s event, which saw about 2,000 people taking part in the 5K race around the park grounds. The club provided all the marshals on the day, including both the lead bike and tail runners, with some members also running in the race itself.

One of our members, Emma Joyeux had the opportunity to say some words to the participants before the race and also had the privilege of then starting them off.

Event manager Lauren Robertson from Cancer Research UK thanked Quakers for their support saying, “I don’t know what I’d do without you. Everyone is so enthusiastic and I can’t thank you enough for helping out each year.”
