10 March 2018 – Dentdale Run
The Dentdale 14 was a great start to the Club Championship with 18 runners completing the 14,2 mile road race staged on the roads and lanes around Dentdale, the Yorkshire Dales “secret dale”. Following a figure of eight course, it wound up hill and down dale. At the end of the race all finishers were treated to a hot drink, sandwich and cake! It is a lovely event where all proceeds go to the Dent C of E Primary School.
Marc Ellis got the first 50 points of the year in an age graded time of 01:27:12, followed by David Thompson (01:32:18), getting 49 points and 48 points going to Michael Thompson in a time of 01:36:02.
There was also lots of support from fellow Quakers, with some also taking part in the Dentdale 7.
Fantastic turnout and effort from everyone. Well done, looking forward to seeing you all throughout the rest of the season.
25 March 2018 – South Park 20
Our second Championship Race of the year saw 10 Quakers completing the South Park 20 hosted by the Darlington Harriers & AC. This is a multi-lap event for those runners who were looking to run a fast 20-mile race, in preparation for a Spring full or half marathon. It’s a very mentally challenging event but has lots of support from different clubs all helping each other get over the finish line. It is a very good spirited event.
Fred Tennant had a great race taking the top 50 Championship points in age graded time of 02:12:52, followed by Bridget Stewart taking 49 points in a time of 02:43:20 and Gary Read in 02:52:26 getting 48 points.
Fantastic teamwork and fantastic running by all.
30 March 2018 – Mermaid 10k
The Mermaid 10km is the first 10km of the year and is a very popular event with places filling up quickly. 44 Quakers took part in the race that starts outside of the Mermaid Pub in Marske, before continuing on to do 2 laps of the promenade and returning towards Marske finishing on the coast road.
Michael Joyeux took 50 points finishing in an age graded time of 32:56, followed by Marc Ellis taking 49 points in a time of 34:30. 48 points were taken by Steve Snook, in 36:56 minutes.
We had lots of new runners taking part in this event and lots of PB’s, a great way to start the 10km season. Well done everyone.
