The weekend saw the cross country season coming to a close, while a few others headed across the Pennines in search of races.
The final regular event of the NYSD cross country season took place at Richmond, on the old racecourse ground at the top of the town. In the women’s event, which covered 5K over two laps, Louise Trainor finished in 22:36 along with Lucia Minto (24:23), Julie Russell (25:42), Claire Chapman (26:30), Bev Snook (29:19), Angela Clement (29:46), Lisa Reeve (31:27) and Tracey Plaskitt (32:38). In the men’s race, which covered 9.6K over four laps, Michael Joyeux finished in fourth place in 34:45, followed by Marc Ellis (38:13), James Atkinson (41:54), Rob Dent (41:59), David Todd (44:36), Steve Snook (46:30), Luke Minall (46:33), Tom Chapman (47:41), Graham Park (48:15), Steve Howell (50:12), David Ledgerwood (52:00), Mark Trowles (55:59) and Ian Hammond (56:28).
Over at Blackpool, four runners took part in this year’s Great North West half marathon, taking place along the seafront. Michael Oliver completed the 13.1 mile distance in 1:48:05 along with Dave Murphy (1:48:52, PB), Bridget Stewart (1:53:30) and Jamie Pratt (1:55:32).
Wendy Thompson was the sole Quaker at the Run Newcastle Valentine’s 10K, completing the race held on the Town Moor in 1:17:03.
Two headed over to the southern edge of the Lake District for the Silverdale Circuit, a 22 mile run along coastal paths and taking in a climb to the top of Arnside Knott. Dave Thompson completed the fairly muddy route in 4:30 along with Emma Bland in 5:26.
In the Saturday morning parkruns, Rob Dent finished at South Park in 19:22 followed by Neil Gooding (19:58), Michael Kipling (20:12), Gary Read (21:36), David Whittle (22:32), Stephen Moore (23:28), Rob Gillham (23:37), Iain Clyde (24:24), Ian Hart (24:25), Julie Russell (24:54), Nick Wadd (27:14), Elizabeth Kennedy (27:19), Julie Bell (27:28), Stuart Masterman (27:30), John Whinn (28:08), Nikki Thompson (28:32), Amy Woodcock (28:34), Sue Woodcock (31:42), Michelle Scruby (31:47), Darren Alderson (31:49), Alec Cinamon (31:50), Michael King (31:59), Rachel Grayson (35:04), Lena Rusa (35:53), Dave Murphy (36:53), Paul Ryan (38:23) and Lisa Alderson (42:59).
At Tees Barrage, Gareth Kyle finished in 21:15 along with Malcolm Hewitson (25:49), Mark Trowles (26:15), Sarah Watson (29:51) and Clare Mcgrath (39:19), while at Catterick, Anthony Corbett & Phil Clarke ran there in 25:31 and 26:39 respectively. At Hackworth, Paul Dalton was first across the line there in 20:01 along with Adrian Colbourne (21:16) and Anna Hardy (29:10), David Ledgerwood ran at Riverside in 24:10, Sally Watson did the Sedgefield run in 35:38 and Paul Reid finished at Sunderland in 27:01. At Keswick, Tom & Claire Chapman ran there in 24:21 and 26:50 respectively, while down in Kent, Rebecca Howard did the Bedgebury Pinetum run in 22:37.
