While most runners headed for the latest club championship race, one runner was busy breaking a sixteen year old club record.

There was a huge turnout for the Guy Fawkes 10 mile race held around Ripley, North Yorkshire. First home for the club over the very hilly route was Brian Martin in 1:07:15 (and first in his age category) followed by Marc Ellis (1:07:36), James Atkinson (1:08:25), Katherine Hackett (1:13:35), Louise Trainor (1:13:46 and first in her age category), Gary Read (1:14:22), Michael Kipling (1:15:09), Adrian Cottam (1:15:11, Steven Major (1:16:34), Rebecca Howard (1:16:49), Nicola Wells (1:17:48), Phil Rutter (1:18:52), Brian McLaren (1:19:47), Andrew Walker (1:20:02), Paul Pomfret (1:20:45), Fred Tennant (1:21:38), Michael Oliver (1:23:00), Graham Park (1:24:08), David Whittle (1:24:09), Simon Rek (1:24:40), Rob Gillham (1:27:28), Andrew Dixon (1:28:50), Bridget  Stewart (1:29:01), Wendy Colling (1:29:06), Julie Russell (1:32:17), David Ledgerwood (1:32:21), Anna Hardy (1:32:22), Sandra Martin (1:33:40), Jamie Norman (1:33:41), Sarah Wilson (1:37:46), Darren Alderson (1:38:16), Clare Westwood (1:38:35), Juliette McLaren (1:38:41), Pamela Barrass (1:39:08), Margaret Hunter (1:41:57), Andy Whittam (1:42:04), Gill Colling (1:44:58), Mark Colling (1:45:17), Michelle Dale (1:47:21), Caroline Litster (1:48:36), Nicky Jordan (1:48:36), Claire Norman (1:49:41), Sue New (1:50:59), Michelle Scruby (1:51:04), Chris Parsons (1:51:13), Lisa Jenkins (1:53:30), Jo Dickinson (1:55:08), Fiona Dixon (1:55:10) and Tracey Plaskitt (1:57:45).

Seven travelled down to Leeds for the Abbey Dash 10K race, held on an out and back route from the city centre. Michael Joyeux came home in 31:38 (PB), breaking the club record for his age category which had stood since back in 2001. Also running were Diane Vaughan (45:46), Julie Whinn (52:29), James Simpson (53:19), Melissa Hird (54:37), Richard Hughes (54:55) and Lena Rusa (1:03:56).

Up at the Gibside Fruit Bowl race, an off-road 6 mile race around the estate grounds, Elaine Cooper and Joanne Todd finished together in 1:21:28 along with Joanne Dewar (1:25:30) and Sarah Bayles (1:32:20)

Four headed over to the Lake District for the Derwentwater 10 mile race which took in an undulating route around the lake itself. Tom Chapman covered the distance in 1:19:27 with Robert Kirby (1:34:18), Claire Chapman (1:34:42) and Janet Bowlby (1:36:27).

In the Saturday morning parkruns, Darren Wright finished at South Park in 19:17 followed by Dave Jones (20:21), Luke Minall (20:25), Fred Tennant (21:12), David Whittle (22:05), Adrian Cottam (22:30), Paul Pomfret (22:40), Ty Hankinson (23:20), Rebecca Howard (23:30), David Ledgerwood (24:24), Andrew Vernon (24:37), Stuart Burkin (25:01), Ian Hamond (25:25), Mark Trowles (26:13), Brian Dixon (27:12), Chris Land (27:23), Lisa Reeve (28:02), Julie Bell (28:03), Lee Morris (28:22), Sally Singleton (29:00), John Whinn (29:20), Alison Hardwick (29:37), Emma King (29:55), Philippa Rayner (30:15), Michelle Dale (32:41), Paul Ryan (32:52), Lisa Alderson (32:53), Sarah Watson (32:53), Michael King (33:04), Gemma Marshall (33:50), Olly Moore (33:50), Rob Gillham (36:41), Lucy Bendle (38:27), Andy Walker (38:35) and Caroline Whan (39:14)

At Sedgefield, Mark Colling finished in 27:14 along with Anthony Corbett (27:15), Christopher Parsons (28:05), Emily Beaumont (30:28), Nicola Howe (30:51), Wendy Colling (30:51), Karen Dove (33:49), Fiona Dixon (33:49), Gill Wallis (34:59) and James Simpson (42:05). At Albert Park, Adrian Colbourne and Stephen Moore ran in 20:09 and 24:32 respectively, while at Stewart Park, Alex Kiel was first across the line in 16:50 with Abigail Willson in 25:20. At Fountains Abbey, Tom and Claire Chapman ran there in 22:22 and 26:58, Michael Thompson did the Flatts Lane run in 22:34, Anna Hardy did the Durham run in 29:04, while Phil Clarke finished at Catterick in 24:24. Darryn Wood did the run at Pontefract in 35:58, while Peter Rowley ran at Lancaster in 26:11.
