October Achievements

During October we have seen our members participate in every type of event including the start of the Cross Country season, 5k through to marathon distance on the roads, ultra trail events and mountain marathons.

In the Redcar half marathon Michael Joyeux finished in 2nd place winning a silver medal. Louise Trainor finished 1st in her age category and also broke the Club Record for her age category.  Adrian Cottam and Samuel Joblin both set new personal best times for the distance. On the same day in the 5k distance Diane Vaughan was 3rd in her age category.

At the Darlington 5k trail series Adrian Colbourne finished in 9th place.

In the marathon events we participated in Chester, Kielder, Bournemouth, Dalby Forest, York, Reims in France and Osmotherley.

Brian Martin in his England vest came 2nd in his age category at the Chester marathon winning a silver medal for both the nation and the British masters.

At the York 10 mile race. Marc Ellis was 2nd in his age category, Diane Vaughan was 3rd in her age category.

In the 10K at Richmond Alex Kiel finished in 2nd place and Danny Gordon was 3rd in his age category. The men also won the team prize.

At the half marathon in Reims France Brian Martin was 1st in his age category and Katherine Hackett was 3rd in her age category. Louise Trainor and Anna Hardy both set new personal bests.

In the men’s cross country at Acklam Michael Joyeux finished in 2nd place.

In the Scarborough 10K Michael Joyeux finished in 2nd place. Andrew Dixon, David Ledgerwood and Lisa Alderson all set new personal best times. The men also took the team prize.

In the ultra distance that is more than a marathon Sarah Bayles completed the 45k Skipton Canal Challenge.

The OMM mountain marathon in the lake district was a distance of 45K over 2 days and was completed by Andrew Lambe and Abbie Hull.

Despite the weather becoming cooler, the nights becoming darker and the trail events becoming muddier the Quakers are continuing to participate in fantastic numbers and are travelling afar to do so.

We all should be really proud of what we are achieving.
