March 2017 Achievements

During March our runners have achieved some great results. The month started off with Alex Kiel finishing the Haweswater Half Marathon in 4th place overall.

The 14.2 miles event in Dent proved very popular being a Club Championship race. Brian Martin was 1st in his age category. Marc Ellis, Paul Dalton and Brian Martin won the male team prize. Katherine Hackett was also 1st in her age category.

At the Hackworth, Shildon parkrun Alex Kiel set a new course record of 16:16.

At the Thirsk 10 miles event Brian Martin was 1st in his age category. Louise Trainor was 2nd in her age category. Billy Harris, Lindsey Lester, Sandra Martin and Gill Colling all set new personal best times.

Brian Martin, Louise Trainor and Julie Whinn also set new Club Records in their age categories with their results from Thirsk.

Brian represented the Club at the Masters Cross Country Championships finishing 2nd in his age category and winning a silver medal.

In the Locke Park 10 miler Peter Rowley was 1st in his age category.

At the South Park 20 Michael Joyeux finished in 2nd place overall and Marc Ellis was 9th. Michael Joyeux and Sandra Martin both achieved personal best times with Sandra also setting a Club Record.

In the final race of the Winter 5K trail series Alex Kiel won the race, Paul Dalton finished in 5th place. Danny Gordon was 2nd overall for the series in his age Category and Lucy Bendle was 3rd overall in her age category.

The the South Shields Temple Park 5K Brian Martin was 1st in his age category.

Not winning prizes for the events but as finishing any Ultra Marathon distance is a great achievement anyone completing will be mentioned in these updates going forward.  The Millenium Way from Newport to Burton-on-Trent, a distance of 41 miles was completed by Anthony and April Corbett and Mark and Wendy Colling.

In the Hardmoors 55 Annette Clark was 1st in her age category. Completing the Ultra distance from Helmsley to Guisborough was Annette, Dave Thompson, Charlie Bogg, Jamie Norman, Roy Macdougall, Emily Beaumont and Michelle Boshier.

Dave Thompson, Charlie Bogg and Annette Clarke all completed the 28 mile Cleveland Survival route which is a self navigation event.

Alex Kiel was first finisher at one of the South Park parkruns and Paul Dalton was first finisher at one of the Sedgefield parkruns.

Michelle Boshier completed her 100th parkrun.
